Cover Picture: ECM remodeling is a necessary molecular event for cancer progression and metastasis. Cancer associated fibroblasts have been considered the major source of ECM production and deposition. However, recent studies indicate that cancer cells play important roles in ECM deposition and reorganization. Cancer cells express and secret collagen, fibronectin, tenascin-c, and many ECM modification enzymes; these ECM protein and remodeling enzyme facilitate cancer cell invasion, survival in circulation, and colonization at the secondary organs.
