Editor-in-Chief Professor Simon X. Yang Elected Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering

Intelligence & Robotics (IR) is honored to announce that Professor Simon X. Yang, Editor-in-Chief of IR, has been elected as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE). The CAE Induction Ceremony will be held on May 27, 2025, in Montreal, QC, Canada.

Professor Yang is an internationally renowned researcher in intelligent robotics. He has made pioneering and original contributions to the field, particularly in the development of biologically inspired intelligent techniques for real-time motion planning, control, and coordination of diverse robotic systems, as well as in the creation of innovative electronic nose (e-nose) technologies. His work has significantly advanced engineering solutions for intelligent robotics and e-nose systems, with practical applications across both industrial and agricultural domains.

Beyond his technical achievements, Professor Yang has played a vital role in mentoring graduate students and research associates. He has authored over 600 peer-reviewed publications and has demonstrated strong leadership within the academic community, serving as Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor of several journals, participating in conference organization, and contributing to national research funding panels such as NSERC and CIHR.

Professor Yang’s election to the CAE is not only a well-deserved recognition of his lifelong dedication to advancing robotics and intelligent systems but also a reflection of the excellence and vision he brings to IR. His leadership continues to guide the journal's mission to foster high-impact, interdisciplinary research in intelligence and robotics.
