Special Issue Introduction
Malignant lymphomas are tumors that develop from transformed lymphocytes at different stages of their differentiation. At present, the WHO and ICC classifications recognize diverse subtypes based on variations in biology, morphology, clinical presentation, and prognosis. Despite significant advancements in comprehending the molecular pathophysiology and management of malignant cancers, a considerable proportion of the affected patients remain unresponsive to existing therapeutic interventions. Patients diagnosed with lymphomas that do not respond to traditional immunochemotherapy indeed present a significant clinical challenge. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a more comprehensive understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying lymphomagenesis. This will facilitate the integration of innovative molecular targeted medicines into the management of afflicted individuals, hence enhancing their prognosis. The primary objective of this Special Issue is to highlight recent advancements in comprehending the molecular pathways that contribute to the development of lymphoma, as well as the advancements in lymphoma diagnosis. Additionally, it aims to define the standards of treatment in different settings (cultural and geographic) and explore the development of innovative therapeutic approaches that can enhance the prognosis of affected patients in the near future.
