Five Editorial Board Members and One Author of Soft Science Featured in the Elsevier 2021 "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers"

On April 14, 2022, Elsevier released the list of "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers 2021". Five Editorial Board members and one author of Soft Science (SS) have been included in the list. The Editorial Office of SS extends heartfelt congratulations to all the scholars!

Wei Hong
Southern University of Science and Technology
Research interest
Solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, microstructure evolution of materials, multi-physics field modeling, soft matter physics, dielectric damage, smart materials and structures, surface viscosity, solid surface instability, and morphological evolution.
Achievement
Prof. Hong has hosted more than $1.7 million in research projects funded by the National Science Foundation of the United States, NASA, the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Semiconductor Research Institute before returning to China. He has led and participated in National Natural Science Program and Key Program in China. Meanwhile, he has held the post of the reviewer for the U.S. Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Energy, the Israel Basic Science Foundation, and the Hong Kong Research Grants Council.

Junming Liu
Nanjing University
Research interest
Correlation and topology physics, multiferroics and ferroelectric physics, statistical physics, Monte Carlo simulations, and spintronics.
Achievement
He was awarded the National Outstanding Youth Fund (1997), the Changjiang Distinguished Professorship of Nanjing University (2004), and was elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society (2015).

Haixia Zhang

Self-powered active sensing technology; Multi-functional smart skin
Achievement
Prof. Haixia Zhang has focused on the research of micro-nano technology and micro-energy for decades. She has gained fruitful research results and published 250 papers, owning 30 Chinese invention patents and 5 PCT international invention patents. She also won the second prize of National Technical Invention in 2006, the second prize of Beijing Teaching Achievement in 2013, and the gold medal of International Invention Exhibition in Geneva in 2014.

Huiyi Zhang

mechanically-guided 3D assembly, unusual soft materials, stretchable and flexible electronics, mechanics of smart materials and structures.
Achievement
He has been awarded the MIT Technology Review "Global Innovators Under 35"(2016), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Thomas J.R. Hughes Young Scholar Award(2019), the medal of International Society of Engineering Science Young Scholar(2018), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Sia Nemat-Nasser Early Career Award(2018), the Eshelby Young Professor of Mechanics Award(2017), and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Melville Medal(2017). 

Lidong Zhao
Beihang University
Research interest
Thermoelectric materials, layered thermoelectric materials
Achievement
Professor Zhao received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Liaoning University of Engineering and Technology from 1997 to 2005. Then Beihang University awarded him Ph.D. degree in Materials Science in 2009. He has published more than 140 SCI papers and has been cited nearly 8000 times. Besides, he owns 8 Chinese invention patents and 1 US invention patent.

Ronggui Yang

Power engineering and engineering Thermophysics
Achievement
Professor Ronggui Yang published more than 10 journal papers and 20 conference papers, and has 2 pending US patents during his doctoral studies. His academic achievements were recognized by international professional organizations as early as his graduate studies. He was awarded the “Young Faculty Award” by the Defense Advanced Research Agency (DARPA) and "Young Inventors of the World" (TR35) by Technology Review magazine in 2008. In 2009, he received the National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Program (NSF CAREER) Award.
