Welcome Prof. Dusit Niyato as Honorary Editor-in-Chief of Intelligent Networking and Computing

OAE's newly launched interdisciplinary, gold open access journal Intelligent Networking and Computing (iNECT) is delighted to announce the appointment of Prof. Dusit Niyato as its Honorary Editor-in-Chief. Prof. Niyato is a Presidential Professor at the College of Computing and Data Science (School of Computer Science and Engineering), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He is internationally recognized for his pioneering contributions to intelligent networking, wireless communications, and distributed computing systems.

About the Journal

Intelligent Networking and Computing (iNECT) is an international peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high-quality original research on the design, analysis, and realization of networking and computing systems, with an emphasis on the deep integration of learning-based, data-driven, and artificial intelligence (AI)-native methodologies. It focuses on interdisciplinary research advancing the theory, architectures, algorithms, and systems underpinning modern networking and computing, covering wired/wireless networks, cloud/edge computing, resource management, foundation models, generative AI, end-edge-cloud collaboration, and applications in the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities, and industrial systems. By encouraging cross-layer and cross-domain system design, iNECT aims to help shape the future of connected and intelligent systems.

About Prof. Dusit Niyato

Prof. Dusit Niyato's research spans several cutting-edge interdisciplinary fields, including generative artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), edge intelligence, the Metaverse, mobile and distributed computing, and wireless networks. His work has established strong theoretical foundations and practical frameworks for next-generation intelligent networking and computing systems, significantly advancing both academic research and real-world applications.

A globally influential scholar, Prof. Niyato has been recognized as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher in Computer Science (2017-2024). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). He was named an IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Distinguished Lecturer (2016-2017). Throughout his career, he has garnered numerous prestigious international awards, including the IEEE ComSoc Asia-Pacific Best Young Researcher Award, the IEEE ComSoc Fred W. Ellersick Paper Award, and the IEEE ComSoc Green Communications and Computing Technical Committee Distinguished Technical Achievement Recognition Award. His research papers have also won multiple Best Paper Awards at leading international conferences. He has published a substantial number of high-impact papers in top journals and conferences, and his work is widely cited.

Prof. Niyato holds several prominent editorial leadership positions in internationally recognized journals. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering and IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials. He also acts as Area Editor of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology and Associate Editor of renowned high-impact journals including IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, and IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing. Beyond journal leadership, Prof. Niyato plays an active role in the global research community through conference organization and academic engagement. He has served as General Chair or Technical Program Chair for numerous flagship international conferences in communications and computing, and he is frequently invited to deliver keynote speeches at major academic events.

Prof. Niyato maintains active international collaborations and academic exchange. He serves as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China (2026-2028) and a Guest Professor at Peking University, Beijing, China (2022-2025). Through sustained global collaboration with leading universities and research institutions worldwide, he has contributed significantly to advancing international cooperation in intelligent networking and computing.
