Editorial Development Meeting in Shanghai Strengthens the Global Vision of AGI and Applications
On June 28, 2026, an in-person editorial development meeting for AGI and Applications was held at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Shanghai, China. AGI and Applications is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal under OAE Publishing Inc. The event brought together Academician Prof. Wenjun (Chris) Zhang, Editor-in-Chief of the journal; Editorial Board Members; Editors of OAE Publishing Inc.; and faculty members and student representatives from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.

During the meeting, Ms. Peiyuan Fan introduced OAE Publishing's international publishing strengths, global academic networks, and editorial support resources. She highlighted OAE's extensive experience and accumulated strengths in global academic journal operations, and outlined the journal's background and overall development framework. With a focus on cutting-edge advances in artificial general intelligence (AGI) and its diverse practical applications, AGI and Applications aims to provide an open, interdisciplinary academic exchange platform accessible to scholars worldwide.

Prof. Wenjun (Chris) Zhang, Editor-in-Chief of the journal, outlined the journal's mission, core positioning, and manuscript scope. He stated that AGI represents one of the most promising research frontiers across artificial intelligence disciplines. Its research scope spans fundamental explorations into intelligent algorithms, integrated systems and cognitive mechanisms, as well as practical applications in complex system optimization, intelligent manufacturing upgrading, smart emergency management, intelligent robot development, and AI-enabled decision-making in management. Professor Zhang noted that AGI and Applications will focus on developing theoretical frameworks for AGI, refining technical architectures, and advancing innovative methodologies, while also documenting industrial practice. The journal will prioritize original, scientifically sound, and transparent research and strive to promote cross-disciplinary integration and international academic coordination within the AGI research community.

Prof. Laijun Zhao pointed out that the journal's positioning is highly compatible with the school's development in interdisciplinary discipline-building, talent cultivation, and international academic cooperation. He also expressed his commitment to providing sustained institutional support to advance the publication of high-quality papers, strengthen the journal's distinctive academic features, and enhance its global influence. Meanwhile, Prof. Zhibin Jiang and Prof. Jie Zhang shared their professional insights into the industrial evolution, technological iteration, and diverse application scenarios of AGI. They jointly emphasized that rigorous quality control of incoming manuscripts is paramount as the journal continues to develop. The scholars agreed that AGI and Applications fills an important gap in the global AGI academic system, serving as a vital platform for international academic exchange, research achievement transformation and industrial technological empowerment, and that it will further facilitate the high-quality and sustainable development of the AGI industry.

In the interactive discussion session, experts and scholars engaged in in-depth exchanges on journal feature positioning, section planning, international cooperation mechanisms, and young academic talent cultivation. A shared view emerged that the journal is strategically positioned amid the rapid development of AGI. Participants affirmed that the journal will uphold academic quality as its core principle, further consolidate its interdisciplinary profile, and establish a bidirectional mechanism linking fundamental theoretical research with industrial applications.

The meeting concluded with clarified developmental priorities and shared expectations for future collaboration. Leveraging OAE Publishing's well-established international publishing system and comprehensive global academic resources, AGI and Applications will continue to optimize its academic positioning, gather high-quality research achievements worldwide, and advance interdisciplinary innovation and technological transformation in AGI. The journal aims to develop into a distinctive, high-level international academic platform with strong global influence.
In the future, with the support of premium publishing resources and the joint efforts of the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board, AGI and Applications will continue to strengthen its distinctive academic positioning, expand global academic exchange channels, and welcome high-level research contributions from around the world. The journal will remain committed to promoting interdisciplinary communication, academic innovation, and the translation of AGI research into practical application. It will further refine its disciplinary features and enhance its global academic recognition, with the goal of developing into a globally influential academic platform with a distinct disciplinary identity in AGI research.
