Two basic types of cells in thymoma: (A) spindle or oval cells devoid of nucleoli and with dispersed chromatin pattern and scant cytoplasm characterize type A thymoma (60×); (B) large round to polygonal cells with vesicular nuclei, scant nuclear chromatin and prominent eosinophilic nucleoli surrounded by an ample but indistinct rim of cytoplasm characterize type B thymomas (60×).
