Cover Picture: Plasma DNA is increasingly recognized as a treasure that can be used for non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) and cancer detection. The golden double helix symbolizes the fragmented cell-free DNA (cfDNA) molecules floating in plasma that possess huge research and clinical value. The double helix is stretching upward at a 45-degree angle, suggesting the continued rapid development of this field, with a staggered end attempting to suggest many open-ended questions for future development, and with a light spot attempting to imply many emerging features for future exploration. Three squares at the bottom highlight three important perspectives of plasma DNA that have been discussed in this review, including short DNA fragmentomics, long cfDNA methylation patterns, as well as tissues of origin of cfDNA.
