Cover Picture: Extracellular vesicles (EVs), which are nanocarriers with phospholipid bilayer structures released by most cells, play a key role in regulating physiological and pathological processes. In this issue, Liu et al. systematically compared the similarities and differences of the biogenesis, isolation, and characterization, engineering strategy and application direction of mammalian EVs (MEVs) and bacterial EVs (BEVs). Engineered MEVs and BEVs hold promise as nanocarriers for targeted therapy. The cover image illustrates the application of engineered MEVs and BEVs with targeting ability in tumors, brain, and bone diseases.
