Special Topic Introduction

Recent advances in materials science, nanotechnology, flexible electronics, and digital technologies are driving the development of innovative biosensing technologies for next-generation diagnostics and healthcare. Beyond improvements in sensitivity and detection limits, emerging biosensors are increasingly expected to provide quantitative, multiplexed, decentralized, and potentially continuous measurements that can support more timely and personalized clinical decisions.

This Special Issue focuses on advanced biosensing platforms, sensing strategies, and emerging technologies for reliable detection and monitoring in clinically and biologically relevant settings. We welcome contributions on nanomaterial-enabled biosensors, optical and electrochemical sensing, printed and flexible platforms, wearable and point-of-care devices, microfluidics, AI-enabled biosensing, and digital health, with applications in disease diagnosis, physiological monitoring, environmental sensing relevant to human health, and personalized healthcare.

Particular emphasis will be placed on studies linking functional materials and biointerface design with signal transduction and device performance. Contributions addressing mechanistic understanding, system integration, reproducibility, and reliable operation in complex biological samples are especially encouraged. Both fundamental studies and application-oriented developments are welcome.

Key areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

● Advanced Functional Materials and Nanomaterials for Biosensing;

● Optical, Electrochemical, and Electrical Biosensors;

● Biointerface Engineering and Signal Transduction;

● Flexible, Printed,Wearable and Implantable Biosensors;

● Point-of-Care and Portable Diagnostics;

● Microfluidic and Lab-on-a-Chip Biosensing;

● AI-Enabled and Intelligent Biosensing;

● Biosensing for Healthcare and Environmental Monitoring.
