Special Topic Introduction

Soft bioelectronics is transforming health monitoring, medical diagnostics, and human–machine interaction. Advances in soft materials, mechanics-based design, bio-integrated electronics, and wearable and implantable systems have enabled improved sensing performance, conformability, and biocompatibility.

The integration of materials design, structural mechanics, micro- and nanofabrication, and system engineering provides new opportunities for the development of intelligent and clinically relevant bioelectronic interfaces. This interdisciplinary direction aligns well with the aims and scope of Soft Science, which focuses on advances in soft materials, soft structures, soft electronics, soft systems, and their real-world applications.

This Special Issue aims to collect recent research that combines mechanics, materials science, electronics, and system integration for next-generation human-centered bioelectronic technologies for wearable and implantable healthcare systems.

Proposed Scope of the Special Issue:

● Mechanics-guided design of soft structures for bioelectronics;

● Soft and biocompatible materials;

● Flexible and wearable sensors for physiological and biochemical monitoring;

● Implantable and bio-integrated electronics;

● Multimodal electronic skin and tactile interfaces;

● Self-powered wearableand implantable systems;

● Soft micro- and nanofabrication strategies;

● System integration and clinical or real-world validation;

● Applications in personalized medicine, rehabilitation, robotics, and human–machine interfaces.
