Topic: Robotic-Assisted Partial Nephrectomy: Indications and Advanced Techniques

Partial nephrectomy is considered as the gold standard for the treatment of small renal masses. Currently, both European and American guidelines recommend partial nephrectomy for the treatment of T1 lesions. However, a growing body of literature has been exploring the possible role of partial nephrectomy for the treatment of larger and more complex lesions. The latter is possible thanks to the introduction to novel technologies, in particular the use of robotic systems. The spread of Robotic-Assisted Partial Nephrectomy has resulted in new indications and possibilities. In this Special Issue we aim to resume the most important advancement of this technique with a particular focus on the following topics:

1. Choice of surgical approach, transperitoneal approach, retroperitoneal approach, etc.
2. How to minimize complications during surgery?
3. How to deal with the reconstruction after tumor removal?
4. Comparison of the outcomes of RAPN with traditional standard open partial nephrectomy;
5. Renorrhaphy techniques and effects on renal function with robotic partial nephrectomy;
6. Application of new techniques in robotic partial nephrectomy. e.g., augmented-reality (AR) technology, 3-D printing, etc.
7. The use of RAPN in patients with high risk features: a focus on the elder.
