Prof. John A. Rogers of Northwestern University Appointed as Honorary Editor-in-Chief of Soft Science!
We are thrilled to announce that Professor John A. Rogers, a globally recognized expert in flexible electronics and materials science, has been appointed as the Honorary Editor-in-Chief of Soft Science. This prestigious appointment not only acknowledges Professor Rogers' outstanding contributions to the field but also signifies the journal's commitment to advancing research in soft materials and flexible electronics.
Professor Rogers is currently the Louis Simpson and Kimberly Querrey Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Neurological Surgery at Northwestern University. His pioneering contributions have paved the way for transformative applications in wearable electronics, bio-integrated devices, and soft robotics. He has co-authored more than 1,000 papers in peer-reviewed journals and holds over 100 patents and patent applications, more than 70 of which are licensed or in active use by large companies and startups he has co-founded.
Prof. Rogers is a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE; 2011), the National Academy of Sciences (NAS; 2015), the National Academy of Medicine (NAM; 2019) and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS; 2014), a Fellow of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE; 2009), the American Physical Society (APS; 2006), the Materials Research Society (MRS; 2007), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS; 2008) and the National Academy of Inventors (NAI; 2013). He has also been honored with several prestigious awards, including the IEEE Biomedical Engineering Award (2024), Washington Award (2022), Benjamin Franklin Award from the Franklin Institute (2019), MRS Medal from the Materials Research Society (2018), MacArthur Fellowship (2009), etc.
As Honorary Editor-in-Chief, Professor Rogers will play a pivotal role in guiding the journal's editorial direction, ensuring the publication of cutting-edge research, and fostering collaboration within the scientific community.
