Announcement of the New Journal--Microbiome Research Reports

Published on: 26 Jul 2021 Viewed: 1429

We are pleased to announce that the new journal--Microbiome Research Reports (MRR) is officially released online on July 26, 2021, aiming to publish high-quality research from scientists with a common interest in microbiome/microbiota research all its multidisciplinary aspects.

The journal’s scope includes investigations of microbiomes present in or various body compartments of human beings or other animals. Surveys on microbial communities and microbe-microbe interactions will be established, and microbe-host communication will be considered for publication. Specifically, emphasis will be placed on the identification and functional investigation of the role exerted by microbial taxa and microbial genes and microbial metabolites markers associated with health and disease. MRR focuses on studies that provide compositional information pertaining to the microbiota/microbiome of various animal-associated niches and generate insights into molecular mechanisms underlying microbiome functionality. Thus, particular emphasis will be placed on functional interactions between microbes themselves, microbes and their environment, and microbes and their host.

We are honored to invite Professor Marco Ventura from the University of Parma, Parma, Italy, to serve as the Editor-in-Chief for this new journal Microbiome Research Reports.

Prof. Marco Ventura
Laboratory of Probiogenomics, Microbiome Research Hub, University of Parma, Parma, Italy.
Research Keywords: Human gut microbiota, Bifidobacteria, Probiotic bacteria, Bacteriophage, Microbial genomics, Metagenomics.

Marco Ventura is a Full Professor of Microbiology at the University of Parma, Italy. Marco Ventura received a PhD in Natural Sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. He carried out his postdoctoral research work at the Dept. of Microbiology, National University of Ireland, Cork (Ireland), before joining the faculty at the University of Parma in 2005. He is the Head of the Microbiome Research hub, representing an Interdepartmental Research Centre of the University of Parma focusing on the characterization of the human microbiome. He is/was involved in several projects as a research unit scientific leader, including EU grants as well as founding sponsored by the food industry. He participated as a speaker in several International Congresses and Conferences. He is involved in the biotechnological transfer for industrial food companies. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the University Spin-Off “GenProbio,” focused on developing the next generation of probiotic bacteria. Ventura’s research focuses on the molecular analysis of bifidobacteria and the diversity and host significance of the gut microbiota. He is an author or a co-author of 255 scientific articles published in journals.
Marco Ventura was nominated among the highly cited researchers in 2020 (Top 1% by citation per field and year by Clarivate Analytics, Web of Science).

We highly appreciate the great support of Professor Ventura and all members of the Editorial Board. We are all looking forward to the success of this new journal with our joint efforts.
