Published on: 13 Oct 2026 Viewed: 17

Microbiome Research Reports (MRR) is pleased to announce that 71 members of its academic community have been listed in the "Single-Year Scientific Impact" category of the 2026 World's Top 2% Scientists List. Of these, 36 also appear in the "Career-Long Scientific Impact" category. These figures are based on the update published in the Elsevier Data Repository on October 7, 2026.

Among those listed, 41 Editorial Board Members (EBMs) were included in the "Single-Year Scientific Impact" category, and 24 EBMs were included in the "Career-Long Scientific Impact" category. The group also includes Guest Editors (GEs), Early Career Editorial Board Members (ECEBMs), authors who published in MRR in 2026, and Academic Event Guests.

The World's Top 2% Scientists List draws on a database of standardized citation indicators developed by Professor John P. A. Ioannidis and his collaborators. The database covers 20 scientific fields and 174 subfields and assesses researchers' citation impact using metrics, including total citations, the h-index, and the co-authorship-adjusted hm-index. Selection is based on either ranking among the top 100,000 scientists by the composite citation indicator (c-score) or ranking within the top 2% of scientists in their subfield.

The latest version uses Scopus data from August 1, 2026. Career-long impact metrics cover data through the end of 2025, while the single-year metrics reflect citations received in 2025.

MRR warmly congratulates all listed researchers on this achievement. We look forward to continuing to work with our academic community to foster international collaboration, promote scientific exchange, and support the dissemination of high-quality microbiome research.
