On 27 February 2026, Microbiome Research Reports (MRR) held its inaugural online Editorial Board Meeting. Nineteen Editorial Board Members and 24 Early Career Editorial Board Members from around the world joined the meeting for in-depth discussions on the journal's development and future directions. The meeting was organized by the MRR Editorial Office and attended by key journal representatives, including Publisher Haidi Ding, Managing Editor Dasia, and Editor Fiona.

The meeting opened with a welcome address and introductory remarks by Managing Editor Dasia, who provided a comprehensive overview of MRR's recent progress and outlined its development plans for 2026. During this session, the recipients of the Outstanding Editorial Board Member Award and the Active Early Career Editorial Board Member Award for 2025 were announced, recognizing their significant contributions to advancing the journal.

The discussion session was chaired by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Marco Ventura from the University of Parma, Parma, Italy. Board members actively exchanged insights on key priorities for MRR in the coming year and offered practical recommendations to further promote the journal's growth. Moving forward, MRR will continue to:

  • Promote high-quality submissions;
  • Expand the topical scope and coverage;
  • Strengthen engagement with the global research community;
  • Increase the journal's international visibility.

The meeting yielded fruitful outcomes, with Board members and the editorial team reaching broad consensus on several core issues. This event not only deepened attendees' understanding of MRR, but also strengthened mutual trust and established a valuable platform for interaction among scholars from different institutions and research fields.

Looking ahead, the MRR editorial team will incorporate the valuable recommendations gathered during the meeting, improve academic quality, expand dissemination channels, and strengthen engagement with the academic community. With the joint efforts of scholars and editors, MRR is well positioned for greater growth and will continue contributing to innovation and academic communication in the global field of microbiome science.
