OAE and Mini-invasive Surgery Hosted Joint Academic Salon with Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital
On June 12, 2025, OAE Publishing, together with Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, successfully hosted an in-person academic salon under the theme "Academic Exchange, Shared Growth." The event brought together leading voices from across the academic community to support the professional growth of young researchers.
The program featured a keynote lecture delivered online by Prof. Lianxin Liu, Vice President of the University of Science and Technology of China and Editor-in-Chief of Mini-invasive Surgery (MIS). Prof. Liu shared insights on designing high-quality research and publishing impactful scientific work. Prof. Yu Zhang, Director of the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery at Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, chaired the session. Ms. Juanjuan Ma, Publishing Director at OAE, and Ms. Linyi Liu, Managing Editor of MIS, attended in person to engage with young scholars and discuss future directions for academic development.

Expanding Reach through Online StreamingTo maximize accessibility and overcome geographic limitations, the salon was streamed live on multiple platforms. The livestream attracted more than 17,000 participants from across China, including researchers, university faculty and students, and clinicians. Attendees actively submitted questions and comments, creating a dynamic atmosphere of exchange. The online format not only broadened the event's visibility but also provided valuable academic resources to those unable to join onsite, fostering true knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

Opening Remarks

In his welcome address, Prof. Yu Zhang emphasized that the salon offered young scholars a high-level platform for academic dialogue while also demonstrating the hospital's commitment to advancing research and fostering collaboration among multiple stakeholders. He noted that academic exchange is a driving force in medical progress and expressed hope that the event would inspire young researchers to pursue excellence and make meaningful scientific contributions.

Speaking online, Prof. Lianxin Liu congratulated the organizers on the successful launch of the salon and expressed his pleasure in taking part. He observed that medicine is undergoing rapid transformation and integration, and that young scholars, as the core drivers of innovation, carry the responsibility of advancing the field. He encouraged participants to maintain a spirit of exploration, bridge basic and applied research, expand their academic horizons, and continually improve their research quality. He also expressed his hope to collaborate with more young scholars through the journal platform to advance minimally invasive medicine.
Keynote Lecture: Open Science Journals and High-Quality Research Projects
Prof. Liu delivered an online keynote lecture titled "Open Science Journals and High-Quality Research Projects." Drawing on his extensive research experience, he outlined the key steps of effective scientific inquiry—from defining precise research questions and designing study frameworks to selecting methodologies and analyzing data.

Using examples from his own publications in leading international journals, Prof. Liu discussed how to balance innovation with feasibility in project design. He stressed the importance of rigorous logic and clear academic writing in producing high-quality publications.
Journal Introduction: Mini-invasive Surgery
Mini-invasive Surgery [ISSN 2574-1225 (Online)] is a gold open-access, peer-reviewed international journal founded in 2017. It is indexed in ESCI, Scopus, Dimensions, and CNKI, with a current CiteScore of 1.2. The journal publishes research across a wide spectrum of minimally invasive procedures, including endoscopy, diagnostics, and therapeutic techniques in specialties such as general surgery, urology, bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, trauma, breast surgery, transplantation, orthopedics, gynecology, vascular surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, and ENT.
The journal accepts a broad range of article types, including Original Articles, Reviews, Perspectives, Video Articles, Meta-Analyses, Commentaries, Opinions, Editorials, Brief Communications, and Guidelines.
At the salon, Ms. Linyi Liu, Managing Editor of MIS, outlined the journal's development and future direction. She explained its academic positioning, peer review process, and commitment to maintaining rigorous standards for submissions. She emphasized that MIS aims to build a first-class international platform for disseminating the latest research in minimally invasive surgery.

Ms. Liu also highlighted OAE's leadership in open-access publishing and academic services, reaffirming the company's dedication to supporting young researchers and promoting the global dissemination of scientific knowledge. Submission GuidelinesMs. Juanjuan Ma, Publishing Director of OAE, followed with a detailed presentation on submission guidelines. She explained the submission process, key requirements for manuscript preparation, common challenges in peer review, and practical strategies to improve acceptance rates. She stressed the importance of choosing relevant topics, ensuring originality, and maintaining clear, professional writing. Using real case examples, she also analyzed frequent pitfalls and offered constructive advice for authors.
A Fruitful Exchange
The salon concluded with lively discussions and insightful exchanges. Through keynote lectures, editorial presentations, and in-depth dialogue, participants broadened their research perspectives and gained a deeper understanding of high-quality research and publishing practices.
