OAE & Mini-invasive Surgery Journal Successfully Co-Hosted Academic Salon with the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University

On June 10, 2025, OAE Publishing, in partnership with the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, held an academic salon in Xi'an. The event was designed to support early-career researchers in developing their academic writing skills, understanding publishing standards, and preparing high-quality manuscripts. Leading medical experts shared insights on career development and practical experience in research and publishing.

Prof. Guangjian Zhang, Director of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Prof. Yong Zhang, Deputy Director and Editorial Board Member of Mini-invasive Surgery (MIS), attended in person. Prof. Li Zhao, Editorial Board Member of MIS and faculty member at Peking University People's Hospital, delivered a keynote lecture online. Representing OAE Publishing, Juanjuan Ma, Publishing Director, and Linyi Liu, Managing Editor of MIS, along with other OAE journal representatives, provided guidance and support for participating researchers.


Keynote Speech by Prof. Li Zhao

Prof. Li Zhao opened the salon with an online keynote address, sharing perspectives on developing research skills and improving academic writing. He emphasized that early-career researchers today face increasing expectations and that events like this provide practical insights into the publishing process, foster strong writing practices, and encourage submission of high-quality work. Prof. Zhao expressed hope that the salon would inspire enthusiasm for research and help young scholars advance steadily in their academic careers.

Remarks by Prof. Guangjian Zhang

In his opening remarks, Prof. Guangjian Zhang expressed appreciation to OAE Publishing for its ongoing support of young researchers. He highlighted the salon as a platform for meaningful dialogue between academia and publishing, and reviewed the development of thoracic surgery at the hospital, emphasizing the integration of clinical practice and research. Prof. Zhang expressed hope that the event would strengthen collaboration between academic and publishing communities, enhance the dissemination and application of research findings, and contribute to cultivating medical researchers with both an international perspective and innovative capability.

Through these discussions, participants gained a clearer understanding of MIS's focus and international impact, as well as insights into current research priorities and emerging trends in minimally invasive surgery.

In the final session, Ms. Ma addressed the responsible use of AI tools in research and publishing. She discussed applications in writing assistance, image generation, and language editing, emphasizing ethical principles and publishing standards. Her guidance helped clarify appropriate AI usage and promote transparency and responsibility in academic publishing.
