OAE Publishing Successfully Hosted Academic Salon at Zhejiang University

In the golden month of October, OAE Publishing continued its series of engaging academic salons. On October 29, the team visited Zhejiang University for an event themed "Empowering Young Scholars, Opening a New Chapter in Academia." The salon aimed to equip students with practical guidance on academic writing and publishing, helping them approach SCI journal submissions with confidence and competence.

Opening Remarks

The event began with a speech by Prof. Yuxin Peng, Director of the Institute of Kenisiology and Sports Engineering and Tenured Associate Professor at the College of Education, Zhejiang University. Prof. Peng emphasized that such academic exchanges provide students with an excellent platform to enhance their understanding of academic journals and refine their writing skills. He also highlighted the value of university–industry collaboration in fostering research innovation and preparing students to publish high-quality work.

Prof. Peng expressed his appreciation for OAE Publishing's support, noting that this platform promotes closer cooperation between academia and the publishing industry, facilitates wider dissemination of research, and nurtures scholars with international perspectives and innovative capabilities.

Introducing OAE Publishing and Its Journals

Haidi Ding, Publisher at OAE Publishing, introduced the company's growth and key journals. Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Los Angeles, OAE Publishing is an international, multidisciplinary, open-access publisher. Ms. Ding shared the company's mission and achievements in promoting open-access publishing, helping students understand its value and the practical considerations for selecting journals that align with their research areas.

Scientific Writing Workshop

Ms. Ding then led a workshop on academic English writing, focusing on techniques to communicate research clearly and effectively. The session covered common language challenges, the principles of academic writing, and strategies to present research ideas persuasively. She emphasized clarity, conciseness, and logical flow, helping students enhance the readability and overall quality of their manuscripts.

This workshop provided students with practical skills to improve their scientific writing, supporting future success in publishing in international journals.


Practical Guidance on SCI Paper Submission

Publishing Director Juanjuan Ma offered hands-on guidance on submitting papers to SCI journals. Her session covered selecting research topics using the Web of Science (WOS) database, preparing manuscripts before submission, and effectively responding to reviewers' comments.

Through interactive discussions, students gained insights into the submission process and strategies to navigate common challenges—from choosing journals to handling peer review feedback.

Understanding the Manuscript Review Process

Ms. Ma also explained the manuscript handling procedures at international journals, detailing the priorities and expectations of peer reviewers. She addressed common challenges such as initial rejection and provided strategies for responding constructively to reviewer comments, helping students approach the review process with confidence and professionalism.
