OAE and Fudan University Zhongshan Hospital Successfully Conclude Salon Event

On December 11, 2024, OAE Publishing, in collaboration with Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, hosted an in-person salon event. The event was attended by Wei Jiang, Head of the Lung Cancer Division, Department of Thoracic Surgery, and Hao Jiang, Chief of the Clinical Research Management Division, Research Department at Zhongshan Hospital, together with OAE representatives Ms. Juanjuan Ma (Publishing Director), Ms. Haidi Ding (Publisher), and Ms. Siya Liang (Marketing Manager).

The event aimed to deepen young researchers' understanding of academic publishing, provide practical insights into manuscript preparation and submission, and enhance their academic writing skills for international journals.


Opening Remarks

In his speech, Wei Jiang emphasized the importance of strengthening young scholars' research capacity and academic writing skills. He expressed the hope that this training would help participants gain systematic and practical guidance to foster innovation in their research.

Introducing OAE and Its Journals

OAE Publisher Haidi Ding presented OAE's mission of advancing academic communication and promoting open knowledge sharing. She introduced OAE's development journey, its focus on multidisciplinary open access publishing, and highlighted its cluster of medical and public health journals, which provide a global platform for cutting-edge research.

She also led a dedicated session on English academic writing, using real examples to illustrate common language issues—such as grammar errors, unclear phrasing, and repetitive structures—and offered practical strategies for clarity, precision, and logical flow.

Practical Guide to Manuscript Submission

In this session, Juanjuan Ma, Publishing Director at OAE, highlighted the importance of choosing the right journal and assessing its discipline, impact, and future trajectory. She offered practical advice on preparing for submission—such as drafting cover letters, organizing supplementary materials, and following journal requirements—while underscoring the need to uphold ethical standards and avoid academic misconduct. Her guidance encouraged young researchers to ensure the integrity of their work and make meaningful contributions to the scientific community.

Addressing the challenges young researchers often face in journal submission, Ma offered insights from a publisher's perspective on common issues during peer review and strategies for handling them.
