OAE–Nanjing University Salon Concludes Successfully

On November 5, 2024, Siqing Hu (Deputy Publisher, OAE Publishing), and Siya Liang (Marketing Manager, OAE Publishing) visited the Xianlin Campus of Nanjing University, Nanjing, China, accompanied by Prof. Jin Xie from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Together, OAE and the School co-hosted an on-site academic exchange workshop.

The event aimed to equip students with valuable academic knowledge and practical skills, helping them overcome challenges in submitting and publishing SCI papers, while further enhancing their research performance and publishing capacity.

Opening Remarks

The event officially began with an address by Prof. Jin Xie from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Nanjing University. Prof. Xie emphasized the significance of this activity in promoting university–enterprise collaboration, sharing knowledge about academic publishing, and enhancing paper-writing skills. He expressed gratitude to OAE Publishing for its support and involvement, and encouraged students to make the most of this opportunity to gain practical academic guidance, strengthen their research capabilities, and improve their chances of publishing high-quality papers. Prof. Xie also highlighted the role of such platforms in fostering closer ties between academia and publishing, advancing scientific research, and cultivating outstanding young scholars.

Introducing OAE and Chemical Synthesis

Deputy Publisher Siqing Hu first gave an overview of OAE Publishing, covering its founding background, mission, and development path. She emphasized OAE's commitment to providing a high-quality platform for global researchers, fostering scientific progress and knowledge sharing.

She then introduced Chemical Synthesis, a flagship OAE journal in chemistry, founded in 2021 and led by Prof. Bao-Lian Su, a member of the European Academy of Sciences. The journal covers research across all areas of chemistry and is indexed in Scopus, CAS, J-Gate, CNKI, Dimensions, Lens, and more.

Hu explained Chemical Synthesis's research scope, unique features, article types, and special columns, encouraging students to engage with the journal and submit their work to reach a broader academic and industry audience.

Academic Writing Workshop

Hu also delivered a session on academic writing in English, aimed at helping students improve the clarity, precision, and persuasiveness of their research papers. Using real-world examples, she highlighted common language issues in scientific writing, provided strategies for avoiding grammar mistakes, and shared tips on enhancing logical flow and stylistic variety.

Her training offered students practical tools to strengthen their writing skills and build a strong foundation for publishing successfully in international journals.

The session also covered key aspects of Open Access publishing, helping students better understand its concepts, value, and the importance of selecting journals aligned with their research focus. Hu then outlined the essential steps in preparing for submission, emphasizing the need to define a clear research topic and choose an appropriate journal. She highlighted ethical standards in publishing, reminding students to uphold academic integrity by ensuring originality and accuracy, and by avoiding plagiarism or improper citation.

Lucky Draw & Closing

The event concluded with a lucky draw, with prizes presented by Siqing Hu and Prof. Jin Xie. The closing session ended on a high note, encouraging students to carry both knowledge and "good luck" into their future research endeavors.
