OAE's newly launched journal Greenverse Science, an international, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to advancing research addressing global sustainability challenges, is honored to announce the appointment of Prof. Dengsong Zhang from Shanghai University, China, as its Editor-in-Chief.

About Prof. Dengsong Zhang
Prof. Dengsong Zhang is Professor of Chemistry at Shanghai University, China, and a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He holds several prominent leadership roles, including Director of the International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Nano-Composite Functional Materials at the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, as well as Director the Shanghai Engineering Research Center of New Materials and Applications for Resources and Environment, the Innovation Institute of Carbon Neutrality, and the International Joint Laboratory of Catalytic Chemistry – all affiliated with Shanghai University. He also serves as the Executive Vice Dean of the College of Sciences at Shanghai University.
Throughout his career, Prof. Zhang has made significant contributions to both fundamental and applied catalysis, particularly in pollution control, carbon reduction, and sustainable energy technologies. He has led numerous nationally important research initiatives, including major projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Program of China, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Environmental Governance Major Project, and the National Basic Research Program (973 Program) of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China.
Prof. Zhang's scholarship has garnered global recognition, reflected in more than 270 publications in internationally top-tier journals such as Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Chemical Reviews, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie, Environmental Science & Technology, and Advanced Materials. His research has been cited over 29,886 times, and he holds an exceptional H-index of 97 (Scopus). He has been consecutively named a Highly Cited Researcher by both Clarivate Analytics and Elsevier. In 2023, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).
Beyond his academic publications, Prof. Zhang has been granted over 70 invention patents, many of which have been successfully implemented in industry. His impactful scientific and technological innovations have earned him several prestigious accolades, including the Shanghai Youth Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award, the First Prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of Huaxia (China) Construction Science and Technology Award, and multiple national and municipal teaching honors, such as the Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award (Ministry of Education, China) and the Second Prize of Shanghai Higher Education Excellent Teaching Achievement Award.
