Call for Applications: Cancer Drug Resistance Early-Career Editorial Board - Advancing the future of cancer drug resistance research

Cancer Drug Resistance (CDR) invites applications from outstanding early-career researchers to join its international Early-Career Editorial Board (ECEB).

CDR is an international open-access journal dedicated to advancing research on the mechanisms, monitoring, and treatment of cancer drug resistance across basic, translational, and clinical research. The journal has recently achieved a 2025 Impact Factor of 7.6 (Oncology, Q1, Top 15%) and a 2025 CiteScore of 10.3 (Pharmacology, Top 8%).

As therapeutic strategies continue to evolve, the biological and clinical landscape of treatment resistance is becoming increasingly complex, encompassingareas such as targeted therapy, immunotherapy, antibody–drug conjugates, cellular therapies, cancer evolution, liquid biopsy, and emerging therapeutic approaches. In response to these rapidly evolving developments, CDR is expanding its international ECEB community to bring together promising early-career researchers with diverse expertise and perspectives across these evolving areas.

Who Are We Looking For?

We welcome applications from early-career researchers with a strong academic background and demonstrated expertise in the areas relevant to cancer drug resistance, including but not limited to:

• Targeted therapy and resistance
• Immunotherapy and immune resistance
• Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs)
• Cell and gene therapy
• Cancer evolution and heterogeneity
• Liquid biopsy and minimal residual disease
• Tumor microenvironment and cancer metabolism
• Cancer stem cells and drug-tolerant states
• DNA damage response and repair
• Epigenetic regulation
• Pharmacology and pharmacogenomics
• Biomarkers and precision oncology
• Computational, multi-omics, and spatial approaches
• Novel strategies to overcome treatment resistance
• Clinical and translational oncology

We particularly welcome researchers who can bring diverse scientific, clinical, institutional, and geographic perspectives to the CDR community.

What Does the ECEB Offer?

ECEB members will have opportunities to:

• Gain experience in peer review and editorial activities at an international scientific journal;
• Receive an APC credit for each completed peer review, with credits fully cumulative and applicable for future CDR submissions;
• Receive a CDR Early-Career Editorial Board Certificate upon appointment;
• Receive priority consideration for participation in CDR webinars, interviews, panels, and other scientific initiatives;
• Engage with CDR Editors and internationally recognized researchers in the field of cancer drug resistance;
• Be considered for CDR travel grants to support participation in selected scientific meetings;
• Gain visibility through recognition on the CDR website and in selected journal communications; and
• Build experience toward future opportunities to serve as a Guest Editor or Editorial Board Member.

CDR will also recognize outstanding contributions through its annual Outstanding Early-Career Editorial Board Member and Outstanding Reviewer Award.

What Do We Ask of ECEB Members?

ECEB members are expected to conduct peer reviews within their areas of expertise and provide thoughtful, constructive, and timely assessments.

Members are not required to handle routine manuscript administration. CDR's dedicated manuscript processing team oversees the administrative aspects of peer review, allowing ECEB members to focus on their scientific and editorial contributions.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year. There is no fixed application deadline. Each application will be assessed by the CDR Editorial Office based on the applicant’s research expertise, publication record, career stage, and alignment with the journal's scope.
