MRR 2022 Best Paper Announcement

The Editorial Office of Microbiome Research Reports (MRR) is delighted to announce the winners of the "MRR 2022 Best Paper Award". Out of 20 outstanding papers, 2 papers were carefully selected by the journal's Scientific Committee as the Best Papers:

The Best Original Article:
The first fungi: mode of delivery determines early life fungal colonization in the intestine of preterm infants

Reason for the Award: The paper explores a new topic in the microbiome area with greater relevance for early life studies and factors that contribute to microbial assembly. Furthermore and most importantly, it explores an unexplored element of the gut microbiota, fungi, and how they find their way to the human gastrointestinal tract.

The Best Review Article:
Deteriorating microbiomes in agriculture - the unintended effects of pesticides on microbial life

The Best Papers were evaluated and identified by the journal's Scientific Committee, guided by the Editor-in-Chief Prof. Marco Ventura and Co-Editor-in-Chief Prof. Douwe van Sinderen. We warmly congratulate Dr. Clara Belzer's team from Wageningen University and Research, Netherlands, and Dr. Emma Allen-Vercoe's team from Western University and University of Guelph, Canada for winning this Best Paper Award.
