As analytically discussed in Chapter 3., genetic, liver-related, hemodynamic, metabolic, musculo-skeletal, and intestinal factors may mediate the development of incident CKD among those with NAFLD/MAFLD/MASLD. Additionally, viral hepatitis and alcohol may confer an additional risk of nephrotoxicity among a subset of individuals.
