Speaker

Prof. Manuel Mayr

National Heart and Lung Institute, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London, London,UK.
Topic: Precision medicine requires precision proteomics
Prof. Manuel Mayr is the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Professor of Cardiovascular Proteomics. He graduated with distinction in medicine from the University of Innsbruck, Austria, before moving to London to undertake a PhD focused on integrating proteomics and metabolomics. After completing his PhD under the supervision of Professor Qingbo Xu in 2005, he was promoted to Professor in 2011. In 2017, he was awarded a BHF Personal Chair, which he transferred to Imperial College London in 2023. His academic achievements have received international recognition, including the Outstanding Achievement Award from the European Society of Cardiology’s Council on Basic Cardiovascular Science in 2013 and the International Society for Heart Research President's Distinguished Lecture in 2022. He chaired the British Atherosclerosis Society from 2019 to 2021 and is currently Co-director of Imperial's BHF Centre of Research Excellence and Co-head of the Vascular Section within the National Heart and Lung Institute.

Discussant(s)

Prof. Carlo Gabriele Tocchetti

University of Naples Federico II, Naples, Italy.
Prof. Carlo Gabriele Tocchetti, MD, PhD, FHFA, FISC is Director of Cardio-Pulmonary Onco-Immunology at Federico II University Hospital, Naples, Italy where he has established himself as a HF basic and clinical investigator. Prof Tocchetti is Nucleus member of the ESC Council on Cardio-Oncology and President of the International Cardio-Oncology Society (ICOS) Italy Chapter and ICOS Executive Board Member. The main goal of his group is to explore pathophysiologic mechanisms and therapeutic targets in cardiac dysfunction, with a particular interest on post-ischemic HF, genetic and inflammatory cardiomyopathies, Pulmonary Hypertension and RV dysfunction, and HF due to antineoplastic therapies, including novel anticancer immunotherapies and biologic drugs employed in inflammatory diseases.

Assoc. Prof. Ling Lin

Shanghai Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai, China.
Dr. Lin earned her M.D. and Ph.D. from Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University, in 2016. Her research applies dynamic multi-omics approaches to investigate mitochondrial metabolic remodeling in cardiovascular injury and repair. She develops biomimetic organ-on-a-chip models and applies spatiotemporally resolved single-cell metabolic profiling to elucidate how metabolic reprogramming and intercellular communication regulate these processes. Dr. Lin has secured eight research grants as principal investigator, including funding from National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles in journals including Molecular Therapy, Advanced Science, and Hepatology. She serves as an Associate Editor of Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology and a member of the Youth Editorial Board of Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica.
