Special Issue Introduction

Bariatric surgery represents the most valid option to treat the chronic disease of morbid obesity and all its related comorbid conditions with the purpose of increasing life expectancy and reducing the burden of associated diseases. Although bariatric surgery is largely successful, there are procedural related complications in both the short and longterm. Successful identification and management of these complications helps to improve acceptance of bariatric interventions and reduces the the negative impact of obesity on our patients.

This Special Issue will provide readers with information on the identification and management of complications after bariatric surgery. We will cover endoscopic and surgical interventions and provide strategies for longterm success.
