Special Issue Introduction

Pelvic floor disorders, including conditions such as urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and fecal incontinence, are prevalent health issues that affect a substantial portion of the female population, particularly as they age. These conditions can have a significant impact on a woman's quality of life. Unfortunately, many women refrain from seeking medical attention for pelvic floor disorders due to feelings of embarrassment, a lack of awareness, or misconceptions. Raising awareness and fostering open discussions about these conditions is essential in encouraging women to seek appropriate care. The field of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) often necessitates collaboration among urogynecologists, urologists, gynecologists, colorectal surgeons, and physical therapists. Delving into this topic facilitates interdisciplinary cooperation in providing comprehensive care. Additionally, it also promotes ongoing research and innovation in the field, ultimately enhancing the quality of care provided to these patients.
