Topic: Innovations in ERAS for Gastrointestinal Surgery: Personalised Pathways, Digital Health, and Minimally Invasive Techniques
Guest Editors
Special Topic Introduction
This Special Issue highlights cutting-edge research and evolving clinical strategies in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) for gastrointestinal surgery, with a focus on minimally invasive approaches such as laparoscopic and robotic techniques. ERAS has become a pivotal framework to improve surgical outcomes, accelerate postoperative recovery, and enhance patient experience.
Despite widespread adoption, variability in protocol implementation and patient response underscores the need for refined, individualized ERAS pathways. This Special Issue emphasizes innovations that bridge standardized ERAS recommendations with personalized perioperative care, integration with advanced minimally invasive techniques, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
We invite high-quality submissions that explore both foundational and emerging topics in ERAS for gastrointestinal surgery.
This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for high-quality contributions addressing both foundational and emerging aspects of ERAS in gastrointestinal surgery. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
● lOptimization and innovation of ERAS protocols in gastrointestinal procedures;
● lIntegration of ERAS with laparoscopic, thoracoscopic, and robotic surgery;
● lIndividualized patient stratification and personalized perioperative pathways;
● lAdvances in analgesia, nutrition, early mobilization, and postoperative care;
● lDigital health, monitoring technologies, and data-driven ERAS strategies;
● lClinical outcomes, complication reduction, and quality-of-life assessments.
