Special Topic Introduction

Significant progress has been made over the past decades in the field of ferroelectrics, transforming it into a highly multidisciplinary domain that bridges physics, materials science, nuclear science, and brain science to satisfy the demand for its application in multifunctional, high-performance, and miniaturized devices. To capture the latest breakthroughs and foster cross-disciplinary synergy, this Special Issue highlights recent advanced research on ferroelectrics and their diverse applications. We welcome both original research and comprehensive review articles that explore the integration of both experimental innovation and theoretical insights.

A central objective of this Special Issue is to elucidate the fundamental relationships linking microscopic mechanisms, microstructures, and macroscopic functional properties in ferroic systems. We particularly encourage contributions that explore innovative strategies to tailor and optimize ferroelectric performance and novel materials to enable new applications.

The scope of the special issue includes, but is not limited to:

● Microstructure engineering and functional properties in ferroelectrics;

● Advanced theory of ferroelectrics and multiferroics;

● Advanced Characterization Techniques;

● Process on low-dimensional ferroelectrics;

● AI-assisted discoveries of ferroelectrics.

We hope this Special Issue not only provides a high-impact platform to showcase remarkable theoretical breakthroughs and practical technologies, deepening our understanding of recent milestones, but also accelerates the deployment of advanced ferroelectrics across multidisciplinary sectors.
