Special Issue Introduction
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have experienced ever increasing interest over recent years, with advancements in isolation and characterization technologies driving new insights into their biological functions and their potential for clinical translations. As the field continues to expand and the unique complexity of EVs is revealed, the need for efficient and broadly applicable methodologies to study EVs becomes critical. This special issue aims to provide a snapshot of current state-of-the-art methodologies for the isolation and characterization of EVs and to highlight cutting-edge technologies that are foreseen to unlock EVs use in clinical applications.
We invite researchers to contribute original papers, (mini)reviews, or critical perspectives that provide innovative solutions to both longstanding and emerging challenges in the EV field. By fostering a collective understanding of the most powerful and promising methodologies, this issue seeks to propel the field forward and realize the full clinical potential of EVs.
