Special Issue Introduction

Liquid biopsy, a noninvasive method for extracting diverse molecular information about cancer from body fluids, has emerged as a noteworthy technology that contributes to the realization of cancer early detection, personalized medicine, and so on.

Of particular note, ctDNA has already found clinical utility, including comprehensive genome profile-type tests, and evaluations based on real-world data are now underway.

However, not only ctDNA but many cancer liquid biopsy technologies employing different modalities, such as extracellular vesicles (EVs), are approaching the level of practical application.

In light of this situation, this issue will cover the latest original papers and review articles on the development of EV-based cancer liquid biopsy and its implementation in cancer care from a wide range of perspectives.
