Special Topic Introduction
Advances in photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, and photoelectrocatalysis are driving transformative solutions for sustainable energy conversion and environmental remediation. This special issue focuses on recent breakthroughs in catalyst design, charge carrier dynamics, interfacial reaction mechanisms, and reactor engineering. Topics span from solar-to-fuel conversion (H₂ production, CO2 reduction, NH3 synthesis) to pollutant degradation and resource recovery. We welcome contributions on novel materials (e.g., single-atom, heterojunction, plasmonic, and 2D catalysts), in situ characterization, theoretical simulations, and machine-learning-assisted discovery, and fuel cell. This special issue also welcomes a broad range of manuscript formats, including but not limited to Reviews, Communications, and Research Articles. By bridging fundamental understanding with practical applications, this issue aims to accelerate the development of high-efficiency, durable catalytic systems for a clean energy future and a sustainable environment.
