Special Topic Introduction
This special issue celebrates the 5th anniversary of Energy Materials and marks an important milestone in the development of the journal. Over the past five years, the journal has witnessed rapid growth in energy materials research and has served as an active and high academic platform for disseminating high-quality studies in this rapidly evolving field.
To commemorate this occasion, this newly launched special issue is organized to highlight recent advances in energy conversion and storage, including electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, batteries, and related energy systems. Particular attention is given to the fundamental understanding and rational design of functional materials, with emphasis on electronic structure engineering, interfacial phenomena, and structure–property relationships.
Looking forward, this special issue aims to provide a platform for presenting emerging concepts and cutting-edge developments, while offering perspectives on future directions toward efficient, sustainable, and carbon-neutral energy technologies. It also seeks to further strengthen the role of Energy Materials as a key venue for advancing energy research worldwide.
