Special Issue Introduction
The escalating carbon and greenhouse gas emission levels have drawn global attention to confronting the environmental crisis. Over 130 countries have announced protocols to achieve net-zero emissions or establish carbon-free ecological goals. Meeting this essential requirement for sustainable development involves the crucial mission of creating new energy storage systems specifically engineered to capture electricity from renewable sources in innovative ways that depart from conventional methodologies.
Developing next-generation, high-performance batteries and related energy storage media, emphasizing safety, reliability, and affordability, benefits across multiple facets of our society, from transportation to communication to industrial infrastructure and domestic security. Achieving their desired safety, reliability, and efficiency necessitates a new level of understanding and control over the dynamics that govern electrochemical phenomena. Therefore, we propose this Special Issue focusing on advances in electricity storage, as it is pivotal for promoting enhanced comprehension and facilitating the development of next-generation energy storage systems.
Our accepted article types comprise, but are not restricted to, research articles, communications, and reviews. The topics covered in our publication are extensive and include sodium-ion batteries, lithium-metal batteries, potassium-metal batteries, magnesium batteries, solid-state batteries, aqueous batteries, metal-air batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, and much more.
