Special Issue Introduction
The AIS journal and The Robotic Global Surgical Society (TROGSS) are pleased to invite investigators from around the world to submit manuscripts for a special edition on Robotic Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Wall Surgery. The field of robotic surgery continues to advance at a rapid rate with adjuncts such as artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, and simulation-based training. These innovations, however, must contend with the challenges posed by the disease processes that surgeons treat using robotic approaches and evidence-based state-of-the-art techniques. This Special Issue honors the commitment of robotic surgeons to save lives and improve quality of life with artificial intelligence tools that they have learned to master and pass on to the next generation of surgeons.
