Recruiting Editor-in-Chief for Vessel Plus

We are thrilled to extend a unique opportunity to distinguished scholars to become the Editor-in-Chief of Vessel Plus (VP). As a leading publication in the field, VP is dedicated to advancing knowledge in cardiovascular medicine and vessel-related research.

About the Journal:

VP is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal committed to disseminating high-quality research across various aspects of cardiovascular health and vascular diseases. The journal’s mission revolves around fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence in the field.

VP is presently seeking candidates to fill the esteemed position of Editor-in-Chief. The responsibilities include supervising the peer review process of submitted manuscripts, collaborating with Editorial Board members based on their areas of expertise, and assuming ultimate responsibility for all editorial decisions within the journal. Additionally, the Editor-in-Chief will commission high-quality review articles and topical Special Issues, manage the Editorial Board, and maintain close collaboration with the Journal Publishing Manager and the Editorial Office.

Detailed responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief include:

Editorial Direction: Developing and implementing the journal's editorial direction and strategy, ensuring alignment with academic trends and the journal's positioning;

Supervision of the Peer-Review Process: Overseeing the editorial process for individual manuscripts;

Timely and Efficient Handling of Submitted Manuscripts: Conducting preliminary assessments of incoming manuscripts and making final decisions post-peer review and revisions as needed, while maintaining regular communication with the publisher's editorial and production teams;

Preservation of Journal Reputation: Upholding the journal's reputation, addressing concerns such as paper complaints and ethical issues, and ensuring adherence to academic standards;

Soliciting Articles and Special Issues: Consulting with Associate Editors and the Editorial Board.

Representing and Advocating for the Journal at national and international scientific meetings.

Leading the Editorial Board: Chairing the annual Editorial Board meeting, providing guidance on the composition and succession plans of the Editorial Board members to achieve diverse representation of the community the journal serves, and mentoring new members.

Desired Qualifications:

Expertise in cardiovascular surgery or vascular surgery and/or related fields, accompanied by an active and relevant publication track record;

Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.

Ethical Commitment: Dedication to upholding the highest ethical standards in scientific publishing;

Previous experience in academic journal editing (e.g., as a board member, Associate Editorship), including familiarity with online editorial systems, is advantageous but not mandatory.

The successful candidate should be able to dedicate several hours each week to VP. An annual honorarium is provided for the role.
