The 2019 Annual Report of Vessel Plus

Dear all,

With the increasing influence of Vessel Plus in the world, more and more scholars pay attention to this journal and are inspired by the journal's achievement. The year of 2019 has passed, and here, we would like to express our gratitude to all our Editorial Board members, Guest Editors, reviewers, authors, and readers, and we are pleased to use this opportunity to show the progress of the journal.

1. Editorial Board Member

In 2019, we were honored that Dr. Sampath Parthasarathy (H-index:72), from Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Central Florida, joined us. Dr. Sampath Parthasarathy is a former Associate Dean of Research and current Professor and Florida Hospital Chair in Cardiovascular Science in the College of Medicine at the University of Central Florida. Besides, he is the Editor-in-Chief of Healthcare and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Medicinal Food. His research activities are focused on the fundamental mechanisms of the development of atherosclerosis and heart failure. In addition, he is interested in both the prevention and cure of cardiovascular diseases through nutritional, pharmacological, and lifestyle modulations.

2. Papers Published

Forty papers were published this year. The types of the papers are shown in Figure 2 and are dominated by review articles and original articles.

By the end of 2019, Vessel Plus had published 114 papers in total. The authors are from 24 different countries/regions (Figure 3), mainly from developed countries in Europe and North America, such as the USA, Russia, Italy, UK, Ukraine, and Belgium.

More and more visitors are viewing our website (Figures 4 and 5), with a total of 31,171 users from 162 countries/regions. Among them, visitors from the USA, China, and India rank in the top three each year, while those from the UK, Italy, Russia, Canada, Germany, Japan, and South Korea rank in the top ten.

3. Paper Citations

According to the record of Web of Science, papers published in 2017 and 2018 were cited 52 times in 2019 (22 original articles and 30 review articles in total). The top ten cited articles can be found below (Table 1).

Now, all articles published in Vessel Plus are included in following six databases: Worldcat, Google Scholar, CNKI, Open J-Gate, ResearchBib, and Chaoxing "Domain" Publishing Platform.

5. Special Issues

With the increasing international influence of Vessel Plus, more and more outstanding experts with high academic influence and excellent reputation have participated in establishing Special Issues for the journal this year. Some are established by our Editorial Board members, and some are established by outer scholars. The following is a sample list of ongoing Special Issues.

Guest Editor: Prof. A. Laurie Shroyer, PhD, MSHA (H-index: 43)
Affiliation: Department of Surgery, Stony Brook University, School of Medicine, NY, USA.
Prof. Shroyer serves as vice president of research and assistant dean of education and research at Stony Brook University. She once won the Founder Award of the University of Colorado Clinical Science Program (2007), the "Outstanding Performance Award of the National Cardiovascular Care Improvement Program" of the Central Office of the US Veterans Health System (2006), and "Virginia Outstanding Female Scientist Award" (1996).

Topic: Latest Prevention and Management Strategies of Stroke
Guest Editor: Prof. Chung Y. Hsu, PhD (H-index: 66)
Affiliation: Graduate Institute of Clinical Medical Science, China Medical University, Taiwan. Prof. Hsu once served as director of the Stanford Professor of Brain Stroke at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. During his time in the United States, he was involved in or hosted 32 multi-center multinational clinical trials. Besides, he once served as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Chairman of clinical trial review board.

Due to our rigorous peer-review process under strict ethical policies, we have obtained the support from Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and have successfully become one of its members this year ( Besides, our company, OAE Publishing Inc., has achieved strategic cooperation with Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) and our self-developing manuscript processing system—Mesas—has finished functional integration with it ( This function supports authors and reviewers in easily logging into our manuscript system with their ORCID ID to start work. Authors' submission records and reviewers' peer-review records can be updated into their ORCID account, helping them improve their academic reputation. Our work has been recognized by ORCID and has won all five accreditation badges as well. We hope this function will provide a better academic experience for our experts.

Here, we would like to thank everyone for their attention given to Vessel Plus throughout the year. In 2020, Vessel Plus will still focus on establishing more influential Special Issues, insisting on publishing high-quality articles, disseminating valuable articles to readers quickly, strengthening external cooperation, and actively cooperating with more well-known associations or conferences to improve the journal's influence and promote the development of this field together. We will continuously provide better service for all readers and authors! We are convinced that Vessel Plus will grow better and be one of the excellent journals of this field in the near future!
