About CiteScore

CiteScore™ is a journal-level citation metric introduced by Elsevier in 2016. It is designed to provide an objective assessment of a publication's citation impact by calculating the number of citations received by documents published in a journal during the preceding four-year period. This metric is applicable to serial publications, including journals, book series, and conference proceedings, and provides a straightforward and stable indicator of the peer-reviewed research's academic influence.

Calculation Method

CiteScore is calculated using data from more than 28,000 journals indexed in the Scopus database, spanning approximately 330 subject areas. It is updated annually and freely available through an open search platform, providing the academic community with a transparent and comprehensive evaluation tool.

The journal's broader aim is to advance a more objective and open system of research assessment, facilitate the dissemination and exchange of high-quality scholarship, and contribute to the continued refinement of the scholarly publishing ecosystem.
