Plastic and Aesthetic Research Editors Attended the 11th Asian Congress on Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
The 11th Asian Congress on Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ACOMS) took place during August 22-25, 2014, in Xi’an, China. The conference is an important meeting in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery and was sponsored by the Asian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and hosted by the Chinese Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (CSOMS) and the School of Stomatology of the Fourth Military Medical University (FMMU). This conference attracted more than 800 participants, with 300 representatives from member states in Asia and 500 from China. Additionally, more than 60 prominent oral and maxillofacial experts from home and abroad were invited to present on topics ranging from maxillofacial head and neck cancer, maxillofacial trauma, repair and reconstruction, maxillofacial surgery, cleft lip and palate, temporomandibular joint to tissue regeneration, and general research in this field.
On August 23, 2014, three editors of Plastic and Aesthetic Research (PAR) attended the conference under the lead of Professor Yan-Pu Liu, an Associate Editor of PAR. Liu, also one of the chair persons of this conference, briefly introduced the purpose, history, and current state of PAR in the session Maxillofacial Surgery. Additionally, Liu called for support of the journal and solicited concerns. Most offered high praise for the future of PAR and indicated they would contribute manuscripts and promote the journal among peers. The participants also expressed confidence in the editorial staff and encouragement to them.
In sum, the editorial staff of PAR learned about new techniques, progress in the field, and current research in the oral and maxillofacial fields. The editorial staff are determined to work together and make PAR an efficient platform to exchange new techniques, findings, and insights among plastic and aesthetic surgeons and researchers. Under the leadership of the Editor-in-Chief and all Editorial Board members, we believe PAR will reach a new milestone in the near future.
