Eight Editorial Board Members of Journal of Materials Informatics Featured in the Clarivate 2024 “Highly Cited Researchers”

On November 19, 2024, Clarivate released its annual “Highly Cited Researchers” list. We are delighted to share that eight talented members of the Editorial Board of Journal of Materials Informatics (JMI) have been recognized and featured on this prestigious list. Prof. Gerbrand Ceder, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of California, Berkeley, CA, USA.

Research Interests: Energy storage; Computational modeling; Machine learning

Achievement: Member of the National Academy of Engineering in the United States, Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and Chief Faculty Researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Additionally, he serves as the Chair of the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Center at Samsung.

Prof. Li-Quan Chen, Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.

Research Interests: Nano-ionics materials; New energy materials; Lithium-ion batteries; Fuel cells

Achievement: Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Researcher at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Former Vice President of the Asian Solid State Ionics Association and, since 2004, Vice Chairman of the China Silicate Society. Recipient of the National Natural Science First Prize, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Special Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress (First and Second Class), and the 2007 International Battery Materials Association Lifetime Achievement Award. Pioneer in lithium-ion battery and related materials research in China, achieving the first successful development of lithium-ion batteries domestically. Addressed scientific, technical, and engineering challenges for the large-scale production of lithium-ion batteries, contributing to the industrialization of lithium-ion battery technology.

Prof. Haibo Zeng, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing, China.

Research Interests: 2D materials; Perovskite Quantum Dots; Machine learning

Achievement: Recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of China recipient, leading talent in the National Ten Thousand Talents Program, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and the Optical Society of America (OSA), and Director of the Institute of Optoelectronic Materials and Devices and Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Nanjing University of Science and Technology. Led over 30 projects, including those under the National Key R&D Program. Published more than 500 papers, with two selected as "China's 100 Most Influential International Academic Papers." Cited over 50,000 times, with multiple papers cited more than 1,000 times. Consistently recognized as a "Highly Cited Researcher" by Clarivate Analytics and an "Elsevier Most Cited Chinese Scholar" since 2017.

Prof. Long-Qing Chen, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, USA.

Research Interests: Structural materials; Functional materials; Multiferroic heterostructures; Polymer composites; Energy materials; Multiscale phase-field models

Achievement: Donald W. Hamer Chair Professor in Materials Science and Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University, Fellow of ASM International, Fellow of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS), Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS), Fellow of the Materials Research Society (MRS), Fellow and Lifetime Member of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS), and Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Recipient of the Humboldt Research Award in Germany and the Li Xun Lecture Award from the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, along with several other prestigious honors.

Prof. Feng Pan, School of Advanced Materials, Peking University, Shenzhen Graduate School, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

Research Interests: Battery materials; Material gene science and engineering; High-performance lithium battery; Energy conversion materials and devices

Achievement: Chair Professor at Peking University, Founding Dean of the School of New Materials at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Senior Visiting Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the United States, and Fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society. He was also honored with the Electrochemical Society's "ECS Battery Division Technology Innovation Award" in the United States.

Prof. Xiaonan Wang, Department of Chemical Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.

Research Interests: AI for Materials; Machine Learning; Multiscale modeling; Energy; Smart and Sustainable development

Achievement: Chief Scientist of the National Key R&D Program on Next-Generation Artificial Intelligence, selected for the National High-Level Youth Talent Program. Published over 170 academic papers, cited more than 9,500 times, with an H-index of 58. Recipient of the American Chemical Society Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering Fellowship, Cell Press China Female Scientist Award, Youth Beijing Scholar Award, Hou Debang Chemical Engineering Science and Technology Award "Youth Award," Forbes China Tech Women 50, Singapore Outstanding Young Researcher Award, and the Royal Society International Exchange Award, among others. Listed in the Global Scholars Lifetime Academic Influence Rankings, recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher, and named among the top 2% of scientists globally by Elsevier for four consecutive years.

Prof. Yong Xu, Department of Physics, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.

Research Interests: Theoretical and Computational Condensed Matter Physics; Topological Quantum States; First-Principles Materials Calculation and Design; AI+Science

Achievement: Recipient of the Humboldt Fellowship, Tsinghua University Academic Newcomer Award, and the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, among other honors. Published multiple high-level research achievements in areas such as topological insulators and quantum anomalous Hall effects, making significant contributions to materials science and quantum physics research.

Prof. Yifei Mo, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA.

Research Interests: Computational materials science; Computational materials design and materials discovery; Molecular dynamics simulations; Large-scale atomistic modeling; Materials for energy storage and conversion

Achievement: A tenured professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Maryland, previously recognized with the Outstanding Young Scientist Award by the Maryland Academy of Science.
