Welcome Prof. Artem R. Oganov to Journal of Materials Informatics as an Associate Editor!
We are honored to announce that Professor Artem R. Oganov has joined the Editorial Board of the Journal of Materials Informatics (JMI) as an Associate Editor.
Professor Oganov is a Distinguished Professor at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) and a Member of the Academia Europaea. He is internationally recognized for his pioneering contributions to computational materials discovery and crystal structure prediction. He is the developer of the USPEX code, a widely employed computational tool for predicting stable and metastable crystal structures based solely on chemical composition. His research interests encompass high-pressure chemistry, planetary sciences, computational materials discovery, crystal structure prediction, and the rational design of materials with desired properties. Through his pioneering research, Professor Oganov has played an important role in advancing computational approaches for the discovery and design of novel materials.
Professor Oganov is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the American Physical Society, the Mineralogical Society of America, and the International Core Academy of Sciences and Humanities. His many distinctions include the Chinese Government Friendship Award (2019), the Research Excellence Medal of the European Mineralogical Union (2007), the ETH Latsis Prize (2006), and the International Science and Technology Award of China (2026). He has also been recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics in 2022, 2024, and 2025.
As an Associate Editor, Professor Oganov will contribute to JMI's efforts to advance research at the evolving frontiers of materials informatics and intelligent materials discovery. His extensive expertise in computational materials science, crystal structure prediction, and materials discovery will be a valuable addition to the JMI community, bringing new perspectives and strengthening the journal's interdisciplinary connections.
We warmly welcome Professor Oganov to the JMI Editorial Board team and are delighted to have him become part of the journal's editorial community. We look forward to his contributions to the journal, sharing ideas, and exploring new possibilities for the future of materials informatics.
Welcome, Professor Oganov!
