High Standards, New Opportunities --The Harvest and Growth of Hepatoma Research at the 16th Biennial Congress of the Metastasis Research Society
The 16th Biennial Congress of the Metastasis Research Society (MRS) & the 12th National Congress of the Chinese Society of Tumor Metastasis was held on September 15, 2016, in Chengdu, China. This was the first time that an MRS meeting had been held in China. The managing editor, Lisa Huang of Hepatoma Research (HR) and Dandan Yu, the publication manager of OAE Publishing Inc., grabbed the opportunity and took part in the conference. Apart from learning the latest news and developments in the field of liver cancer, they also promoted HR in the conference.
Dandan Yu and Prof. Joan Massague
More than 1,000 top international experts and scholars from America, China, Japan, Australia, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and Canada participated in this four-day academic fest and were open for discussions and communication. Peter Siegel, a professor from Canada expounded the cellular and molecular mechanism of promoting metastasis of liver cancer. Rui-Dong Xue of Peking University gave a detailed report on "Variable Intra-Tumor Genomic Heterogeneity of Multiple Lesions in Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma." Lun-Xiu Qin introduced the topic "GOLM1 Modulates EGFR/RTK Cell-Surface Recycling to Drive Hepatocellular Carcinoma Metastasis." After listening to the research reports of hepatic oncologists and their discussion with other participants, we learned more about the research progress in hepatology and metastasis, and had a further understanding of current topics, special issue establishment, and the key domain experts concerning our journal. The editors communicated positively with the speakers and experts after every lecture to update their repository.

In addition to acquiring professional knowledge, our editors consulted with international experts on the development of liver cancer, covering article areas, quality control of articles, readers' focus, and user experience. After listening and learning about HR in detail, experts affirmed the development of our journal, patiently answered editors' questions, and gave us professional and sincere advice. Prof. Joan Massague encouraged us and emphasized that it takes perseverance and long-term resolve to maintain and run a journal, and that it is ultimately a journal's goal and responsibility to promote the progress of science and technology and serve researchers.
Our editorial team not only gained knowledge through this conference but also had the chance of face-to-face communication with experts. Experts gave us direct and effective responses and advice from the perspective of professional judges, strict authors, and readers. They also had high expectations and strict requests with respect to HR development. We recognized our shortcomings and received encouragements. We aim to set ourselves higher standards, serve researchers with a more professional attitude, and greet a more challenging future with a positive attitude!
