Call for Applications: Editor-in-Chief of Hepatoma Research

Hepatoma Research is pleased to invite applications and nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief.

Hepatoma Research is an international, peer-reviewed, gold open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality basic, translational, and clinical research on liver cancer and related liver diseases.

The journal serves as a global platform for multidisciplinary research, with a primary focus on liver cancer, while also covering biliary tract cancers, chronic liver diseases associated with an increased risk of liver cancer, and epidemiology and public health. Hepatoma Research welcomes basic, translational, and clinical studies that address emerging scientific and clinical challenges, including hepatocellular carcinoma associated with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), immunotherapy, artificial intelligence in hepatology and surgery, imaging and radiomics, interventional oncology, precision medicine, as well as other innovative approaches that advance the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of liver malignancies.

As the journal continues to expand its international influence, we are seeking an outstanding scientific leader with a strong academic reputation, a broad international perspective, and demonstrated editorial leadership to guide the journal through its next stage of development.

Candidate Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • A clear strategic vision for the journal, supported by a well-defined plan for advancing Hepatoma Research over the next five years, including strengthening its scientific quality, international influence, and academic impact.
  • An internationally recognized academic profile with outstanding scientific achievements and leadership in hepatocellular carcinoma, liver cancer, or closely related fields.
  • A distinguished publication record together with substantial editorial experience with reputable international scientific journals.
  • The ability to engage and collaborate with an international community of researchers, clinicians, and academic societies, while fostering global partnerships that support the journal's continued growth and visibility.

Responsibilities

The Editor-in-Chief will work closely with the Editorial Office, Editorial Board, and Publisher to provide strategic leadership and direction for the journal.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic leadership for the journal by defining its editorial vision, setting development priorities, and guiding its long-term growth.
  • Upholding the highest standards of scientific quality, editorial independence, publication ethics, and rigorous peer review to ensure the publication of innovative, impactful, and clinically relevant research.
  • Promoting the journal within the global scientific community by representing Hepatoma Research at international conferences, engaging with leading researchers, and enhancing the journal's visibility through academic and professional networks, including social media.
  • Building, expanding, and mentoring a diverse, internationally recognized Editorial Board by identifying outstanding scholars, recommending new Editorial Board members, and fostering an active and collaborative editorial community.
  • Identifying emerging research trends and high-impact topics and leading the development of Special Issues, invited articles, and other strategic editorial initiatives to strengthen the journal's scientific influence.

  • A brief vision statement (approximately 2–3 pages) outlining their priorities and strategic plans for the journal over the next five years.
  • The names and contact details of two professional references (optional).

Nominations of qualified candidates are also welcome.
