Welcome Dr. Zhangfeng Zhong to the Editorial Board of Extracellular Vesicles and Circulating Nucleic Acids

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Zhangfeng Zhong, an internationally recognized scholar in natural products, plant-derived extracellular vesicles, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) research, to the Editorial Board of Extracellular Vesicles and Circulating Nucleic Acids (EVCNA).

About Dr. Zhangfeng Zhong

Dr. Zhangfeng Zhong is an Assistant Professor and independent Principal Investigator at the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, University of Macau. He is a Hong Kong Scholar and has been recognized among the World’s Top 2% Scientists. His research focuses on natural products, plant-derived extracellular vesicles, and the research and development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) products, with particular emphasis on cutting-edge technologies for evaluating the efficacy, quality, and safety of TCM and related products.

Dr. Zhong has led 18 research projects supported by a range of research grants. His research centers on the inheritance and innovation of food - medicine homology products, renowned TCMs, health products, and plant-derived extracellular vesicles. He has filed 16 invention patent and software copyright applications, six of which have been granted. He has published more than 120 academic papers in leading international journals, including Trends in Analytical Chemistry, Advanced Science, Medicinal Research Reviews, Seminars in Cancer Biology, British Journal of Pharmacology, Pharmacological Research, Drug Discovery Today, Food Chemistry, Phytomedicine, and Chinese Medicine. His publications have garnered more than 6,400 citations, and he has an H-index of 41. He also serves as a council member of an international society for traditional Chinese medicine and as an Editorial Board Member and reviewer for several SCI-indexed journals.

Dr. Zhong contributed to the first national survey of TCM resources in the Macao Special Administrative Region. He was selected for the Hong Kong Scholars Program in 2018 and was named among the World’s Top 2% Scientists for four consecutive years from 2022 to 2025. His honors include the First Macao SAR Postgraduate Scientific and Technological Research Award (2012), the Hong Kong Scholars Award (2019), the International Contribution Award for Traditional Chinese Medicine (2021), and multiple Outstanding Paper Awards presented at international academic conferences.

With his interdisciplinary expertise in natural products, TCM, and plant-derived extracellular vesicles, Dr. Zhong will bring valuable insights to EVCNA and further strengthen the journal’s expertise in emerging areas of EV research.
