Welcome Professor Juan Manuel Falcon-Perez as an Associate Editor of Extracellular Vesicles and Circulating Nucleic Acids
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Juan Manuel Falcon-Perez as an Associate Editor of Extracellular Vesicles and Circulating Nucleic Acids (EVCNA). Professor Falcon-Perez brings extensive expertise and leadership in extracellular vesicle (EV) biology. His long-standing contributions to the global EV community, combined with his commitment to scientific rigor, will further strengthen the journal's mission to promote excellence and innovation in EV and circulating nucleic acid research.

Professor, Exosomes Lab & Metabolomics Platform, CIC bioGUNE-BRTA, Derio, Spain
Professor Falcon-Perez has been an active member of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV) since 2012. He served as Chair of the 2018 ISEV Annual Meeting in Barcelona and was a member of the International Organizing Committees for the 2016 Rotterdam and 2019 Japan ISEV meetings. Since 2016, he has been an ISEV Board Member, initially contributing to the Educational Committee, where he helped develop several key educational resources, including surveys, posters, guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). He also played a pivotal role in establishing the ISEV Rigor and Standardization Committee and currently serves as its Co-chair. In addition, he was involved in founding Journal of Extracellular Biology, where he now serves as Deputy Editor.
Since 2005, Professor Falcon-Perez has made seminal contributions across multiple areas of EV research, including method comparisons (for proteins, RNAs, and metabolites), method development (EV labeling and single-vesicle analysis), biomarker discovery, and therapeutic applications. His research integrates structural, molecular (multi-omics), and functional analyses, investigating EV biodistribution, glycosylation, and engineering. He employs diverse experimental models — including mouse, rat, fly, and human systems — and studies various biological fluids, ascites, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, and endometrial fluid. His work spans a wide range of biomedical fields, including cancer (prostate, bladder, breast, pancreatic, colorectal, and liver), metabolic, neurodegenerative, and infectious diseases.
We warmly welcome Professor Falcon-Perez to EVCNA and are confident that his scientific insight and leadership will further enhance the journal's academic strength and international visibility.
