Prof. Jun Yu Appointed Associate Editor of Element
Element is honored to announce the appointment of Prof. Jun Yu, Choh-Ming Li Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Hong Kong, China, as an Associate Editor of the journal.

Prof. Yu currently serves as the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Digestive Disease and Director of the Institute of Digestive Disease at CUHK. She is a Foreign Member of Academia Europaea, a Fellow and Co-President of the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences, and a member of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.
Prof. Yu is an internationally recognized expert in gastrointestinal cancer research and translational medicine. Her research focuses on gastrointestinal tumorigenesis, gut microbiota, epigenetics, and molecular diagnostics. To date, she has published 677 SCI-indexed papers, including 328 as corresponding author, with 292 publications in journals with impact factors above 10. Her work has received more than 61,000 citations, and she holds an H-index of 120.
Throughout her distinguished career, Prof. Yu has received more than 50 prestigious awards and honors, including two Second-Class National Natural Science Awards of China, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Award for Scientific and Technological Progress, the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize, the Wu Yang Medical Science Award, and four First-Class Ministry of Education Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards (China). She has also been recognized as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher and one of the world's leading scientists in gut microbiota research.
Welcoming Prof. Yu to the editorial team, Prof. Fudi Wang, Editor-in-Chief of Element, noted that her expertise and international leadership will further strengthen the journal's presence in cancer biology, microbiome science, and translational biomedical research.
Commenting on her appointment, Prof. Yu shared:

Prof. Yu's appointment reflects Element's ongoing commitment to strengthening its international Editorial Board and fostering high-quality interdisciplinary research at the intersection of trace elements, metabolism, disease mechanisms, and human health. The journal also welcomes collaborations and contributions from researchers and scholars worldwide to further advance interdisciplinary biomedical research in these areas.
