OAE's Cancer Immunity, a new international open access journal dedicated to exploring mechanisms and strategies underlying cancer therapy resistance, is honored to announce the appointment of Prof. Chiara Riganti as its Editor-in-Chief. Prof. Riganti is a distinguished biochemist and cancer pharmacologist at the University of Torino, Torino, Italy.
About the Journal
Cancer Immunity focuses on the biological mechanisms and therapeutic strategies addressing cancer therapy resistance, with a particular emphasis on both immune and chemoresistance. The journal aims to highlight innovative approaches that go beyond conventional pharmacology. Its scope is distinct from traditional drug resistance coverage, as it integrates immune evasion, cellular dysfunctions, and translational therapeutic strategies to better address clinical challenges in oncology.
About Prof. Chiara Riganti
Prof. Riganti's research has significantly advanced the understanding of drug resistance, tumor microenvironment dynamics, and translational cancer therapy. As a Professor in the Department of Oncology at the University of Torino, she leads a vibrant research program that explores the biochemical and molecular mechanisms driving chemoresistance, including the roles of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters, oxidative stress pathways, metabolic rewiring, and immune-related resistance mechanisms. Her research integrates fundamental cancer biology with applied strategies such as nanoparticle-based drug delivery and pharmacological approaches to resensitize resistant tumors.
Prof. Riganti's scientific leadership is reflected in her extensive international collaborations and academic service. She has served as a visiting scientist at Institut Cochin, Université René Descartes, Paris, France, and as a visiting professor at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel, contributing to major European and global research networks. Her work spans multidisciplinary themes connecting immunology, cancer metabolism, pharmacology, and biomedical innovation, aligning closely with the mission of Cancer Immunity.
Beyond her research, Prof. Riganti is deeply committed to academic mentorship and scientific capacity building.
