Ageing and Neurodegenerative Diseases Seminar I: Using Large Animal Models to Investigate Neurodegenerative Diseases Has Been Successfully Held
The Editorial Office of Ageing and Neurodegenerative Diseases (AND) organized a webinar entitled "Using Large Animal Models to Investigate Neurodegenerative Diseases". The AND first webinar, chaired by Prof. Wei-Dong Le from Sichuan Academy of Medical Science-Sichuan Provincial Hospital and Prof. Xiao-Jiang Li from Jinan University, was held successfully on May 25, 2022.
Two distinguished speakers, Dr. Sen Yan and Dr. Weili Yang, delivered impressive speeches and shared their unique insights and research results in neurodegenerative diseases using large animal models.
Speaker 1
Dr. Sen Yan comes from Guangdong-HongKong-Macau Institute of CNS Regeneration (GHMICR), Jinan University in China. She completed her Ph.D. and postdoctoral training at Emory University and Chinese Academy of Sciences, respectively. She is currently a researcher at GHMICR at Jinan University, PhD supervisor, winner of National Outstanding Youth Fund, Young Scientist Program of National Key Research and development Program, and Youth Pearl River Scholar.
She is committed to the molecular level research of central nervous system diseases. Her research team has successfully established the world's first Huntington, knock-in pig model, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis transgenic pig model, and Alzheimer's monkey models, etc. She is experienced in the establishment and mechanism analysis of large animal disease models as well as gene therapy research for large animal models of neurological diseases.
Topic: Using Gene Knock-in Pig Model to Investigate HD
Speaker 2
Dr. Weili Yang comes from Guangdong-HongKong-Macau Institute of CNS Regeneration (GHMICR), Jinan University in China. She is dedicated to the establishment of non-human primate monkey models for major diseases and their pathological mechanisms. She established various gene modified monkey models, such as Parkinson's disease, Duchenne muscular atrophy, autism, and cerebellar disease. She was in charge of the general project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the general project of Guangdong Province, and is the key co-investigator of the Research and Development Plan in Key Areas of Guangdong Province.
Topic: Genetically Modified Monkey Model to Investigate PD
This webinar was broadcast live on various social media platforms, including Zoom, OAE Open Science WeChat Channel, Kouxiang Academic, etc., with more than 1,400 participants attending. Experts and scholars were actively engaged in the Q & A session. Videos of the presentation can be found at https://oaepublish.com/webinars/and.54
AND webinar will be held every two months, and the next one will be on July 7, 2022. We sincerely invite more researchers, scholars, and academicians to participate in future webinars.
