The First Editorial Board Meeting of the Journal Ageing and Neurodegenerative Diseases (AND) was Successfully Held Online

The first Editorial Board meeting of the journal Ageing and Neurodegenerative Diseases (AND) was successfully held online on September 1, 2021.


Professor Wei-Dong Le, the Editor-in-Chief, the Associate Director of Sichuan Academy of Medical - Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital (China), hosted the meeting. Professor Ted. M. Dawson, the academician of National Academy of Inventors (US), Professor David Rubinsztein, the academician of Academy of Medical Science (UK), and other 32 Editorial Board members from more than 10 countries and regions attended the meeting.

OAE Publishing Director Margie Ma, Publisher Li-Jun Jin, Managing Editor Monica Wang, and personnel from marketing and technical departments also attended as non-voting delegates.

The meeting aimed to discuss AND journal's development plan for the next 3 years.

In the opening address, the Editor-in-Chief Professor Wei-Dong Le expressed his sincere thanks to the Editorial Board members for their contributions to AND journal. He pointed out that after 6 months' preparation, AND journal officially released its inaugural issue on August 30, 2021 and published 6 high-quality articles from outstanding scholars in the field. These articles have been highly praised by readers, and the achievements cannot be gained by the strong support of the Editorial Board.

Publisher Li-Jun Jin made a detailed introduction of the development history of OAE Publishing Inc. and the general situation of the journal to all members of the Editorial Board; she stressed that in the future, OAE will adhere to its business philosophy: scientificity, preciseness, earnest, perfection and devoted to high-quality academic publishing to promote scientific innovation and development.

In the communication part of the meeting, the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board members had a heated discussion. Professor Ted M. Dawson, the academician from the National Academy of Inventors (US), introduced his research progress regarding the genetics of Parkinson's disease, he also expressed his wish that AND would achieve more good results in the future; Professor David Rubinsztein, academician from the Academy of Medical Science (UK), emphasized the importance of critical analysis and called out for new perspectives on aging. Professor Erik. Ch. Wolters, the Advisory Editor of AND, from the Dutch Association of Neurology (the Netherlands), and many other experts who attended the conference expressed that they would continue to contribute to the journal in the future. Professor Shu-Min Duan, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (China), Professor Hua-Xi Xu, Honorary Director from the Institute of Neuroscience, Medical College of Xiamen University (China), and Professor Sheng-Di Chen, Director from the Institute of Neurology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (China), also shared their experiences and suggestions on journal construction.

The meeting lasted about 2 hours, from 13:00 (UTC) to 15:00 (UTC), and ended with good wishes from the Editorial Board members.

The successful convening of the Editorial Board meeting laid a solid foundation for AND journal. Editors from AND journal will follow the mission of the company: "Disseminating scientific research and promoting scientific innovation" so as to encourage the research in aging and neurodegenerative diseases and provide a professional academic dissemination platform with international academic influence.
